Prepare for infinite amounts of nostalgia as the one-man show that is Ed Sheeran just brought us all to tears during tonight’s iHeartRadio Awards with yet another show-stopping performance.
He may have just flown in from Germany about an hour before the show, but let it be known that there is NOTHING stopping Ed Sheeran from rocking our world.
All in span of 12 short hours, Ed Sheeran has managed to fly across the world, perform a medley of his most recent singles with a gnarly case of jetlag and completely blow us out of the water with his insane talent. During tonight’s iHeartRadio Awards, we were graced with not one, but two Ed Sheeran songs as he took the stage kicking things off with his smash hit single “Shape of You”.
He began with his usual trademark one-man-show routine for the track, creating the backtrack and familiar melodies as part of the performance, but once fans thought that was the end of the performance, he kept the energy alive by switching gears (and stages) with a nostalgic-filled performance of “Castle on the Hill” from his brand new album Divide.
Complete with electric guitars, added bass and backup vocalists, the finale of Ed’s performance had the entire audience on their feet, and I have a feeling that this is won’t be the last time, and after that performance, it’s safe to say Ed will be celebrating by participating in some hard-earned sleep. What a day… but while we continue to obsess over Ed’s new album Divide and most likely play it on repeat a few hundred more times, I want to know all your thoughts on his iHeart performance, so share all your thoughts right down here in the comments and after that, be sure to click right over here to check out all of tonight’s best moments from the show. Thanks for hanging out with me here on Clevver’s award show coverage, I’m your host Sinead de Vries and I’ll see you next time.
